Wildtype and available Watermelon Glyoxysomal Malate Dehydrogenase mutants are in pQE vectors in E coli cells suitable for either DNA production or Protein Expression, are Ampicillin Resistant, and can be supplied as streaks on Agar Plates. This resource lists the sequence of Watermelon Glyoxysomal Malate Dehydrogenase with available mutants in bold. For each available mutant, its association with one of six project areas [Active Site (Catalysis), Mobile Loop (Substrate Specificity etc), Interface (Allosteric Regulation), Citrate Regulation, Loops & Turns (Protein Folding & Stability) and Rossmann Fold (Cofactor Binding & Specificity)] is indicated, as are residues which have not to date been mutated. Full details of the project areas are listed under the appropriate section in the CURE Project Area tab. The project descriptions often also describe the equivalent residues in other species/isoforms allowing evolutionary connections to be made.

Ref indicates that prior work on that residues mutation has been published as a FASEB Journal abstract and the published abstrcat is linked to Ref and should be cited in any work derived from acquiring this mutant. The wildtype construct is described in Cox et al and should also be cited and is linked here

Linked to this table are .pse files that can be downloaded and opened with PyMol for each of these project areas illustrating the main areas of the protein involved in the project. An Excel File containing all the information from the table (no links to sequence or .pse files). This Excel file also contains information about which classes/faculty in the consortium are working with the various mutants/projects and can also be downloaded. This allows you to make collaborations with other faculty/Institutions to further the impact of both your CURE and the research. If you start work on residues not listed as mutants please send that information to Ellis Bell (jbell@sandiego.edu), and, as available, supply the appropriate DNA sequence file to be added to the table.

Each mutant is linked to its DNA sequence data file which can be downloaded and opened using Bio-Edit. Instructions for obtaining and using Bio-Edit to compare the mutant sequence data with the wild type data are linked here.
